A Healing Tool for Families Separated by Incarceration
Incarceration creates painful barriers between loved ones — especially between parents and children. The SO I WRITE journal series was created to help bridge those emotional and physical gaps through written expression, healing, and hope.
Incarcerated parents often long to connect with their children — to offer love, guidance, and affirmation. Yet, broken relationships and emotional wounds can make communication nearly impossible. Letters may be rejected, hidden, or destroyed, leaving both parent and child in pain and confusion.
These journals offer a safe, heartfelt way for parents to record their thoughts, dreams, and messages of love — preserving them until the day they can say:
“I wish I could have been there with you… so I wrote.”
Children with incarcerated parents often carry deep emotions they don’t know how to express. These journals give them a voice — a place to write letters, share memories, ask questions, and express love or pain.
They become a healing outlet and a message of hope, allowing children to say:
“I didn’t know how to reach you… so I wrote.”
Incarcerated children and teens face unique emotional challenges. Many feel isolated, misunderstood, or disconnected from their families. The SO I WRITE – Youth Edition journals provide a safe space for them to reflect, express, and reach out to parents, siblings, or other loved ones.
These journals help young people process their journey and preserve their voice — with the hope of one day saying:
“I needed you to know what I was feeling… so I wrote.”
Together, the SO I WRITE series offers a path toward healing, restoration, and reconnection — one page at a time.
